PS3 - PS3 Games Pricier In Japan
Some might be thinking the jump in price to $60 US for PlayStation 3 games is a bit much after seeing the prices of PS2 games. Consider yourselves lucky, folks, gamers in Japan have to dig a bit deeper.
According to Japanese journalist Munechika Nishida and his ¨multiple sources¨ Japanese gamers may be paying ¥8,800 ($75 USD) and ¥9,800 ($85 USD) per game. This rise in price is being blamed on increased development costs.
According to his article third party support is lagging as well so Sony may switch to a ¨traditional busines model¨ and sell the console at a lower price hoping to make the profit on software sales.
So what does this mean for us gamers outside of Japan? Hopefuly nothing seeing as we aren´t getting the price drop announced in Japan for the lower end model PS3.
