PS3 - PSN To see Big Changes In April: SCEA's John Hight
In a recent interview with gaming news site GamaSutra John Hight, SCEA's director of product development for first-party published digital games, said to expect a "pretty big change in the PlayStation Network in the early part of April".
Most of these changes are due in part to feedback they have received from users. "Simplification, cutting down on the number of mouse clicks, making it easier to find stuff that you want to find...that's kind of an outgrowth of us having more content now, so we have to make sure that you can get at it easily," he explained.
Another topic was the rate of new game releases on the PlayStation Network. His response echoes a bit of the "quality over quantity" sentimentality: "We're very careful about how too much quantity could kill us," he said, "because it's more about having really well-selected, cool experiences. I guess we're aggressive in the sense that we're out there looking at a lot of things."
Another topic of concern was the release of games in Europe much later than they come to North America. He says they have got a lot of feedback from people who are not pleased with having to wait for localization before it gets released for their region and that future releases are attempting to be co-ordinated for a simultaneous worldwide release.
