When Ted Price of Insomniac games said the upcoming PlayStation 3 FPS game Resistance: Fall Of Man would not use the PS3´s central buddy system some gamers, well... panicked. Rumors soon started flying about Resistance having it´s own log on and we would be back to how things were on the PS2 with seperate log ons for all games.
A rep from Insomniac did a bit of clarifying about this, however. It´s true the game has its own buddy list seperate from the central list found on the PS3 BUT the game itself will still use the PlayStation ID you set up on the system and that is the name used in the game. For example, if I set up my profile on the PS3 to log in as ¨LyndonM¨ (no stealing that, I might use it yet) that would be the name I use on Resistance and will be used on the in-game buddy list. This will be the case for any other games that do not use the central buddy list.
One item of note is the game developers planned aheadand offered advanced community features such as clan support, party support, match making and rankings. These are (as of yet) not available as a centralised part of the PS3.
