If you are awaiting the release of Harmonix's Rock Band on the Sony PS3 and Microsoft Xbox 360, but is not too excited about the US $169 price tag for the complete bundle (which includes the game itself and the four instrument controllers bundled along with it). Not only will you get to purchase the complete bundle, now you may also buy each instrument peripheral for the game separately.

This news was confirmed from an interview with Alex Rigopulos, Harmonix CEO. He said that while the complete bundle for Rock Band is out, gamers will still get to purchase the individual instrument bundles.

“We are working diligently to get individual instruments into the channel as soon as humanly possible and we have a huge effort in place to make this happen,” Rigopulos said.

Because Harmonix' game designs support open platform standards, people will be able to use their existing Rock Band peripherals. Also, a great advantage that purchasers can have of the individual instrument peripherals out in the market is that friends can purchase the Rock Band bundle together, and then share the individual instruments among them.

With this new development, it is certainly a good news to gamers who are on a tight budget, as the new Rock Band also works with older guitar controllers. Now, that's what you call money well spent.
