PS3 - SCEE Stops Development On Two Titles At London Studio
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe had themselves a bit of a budget review recently- looks like the finding were not overly pleasant as the results of this was the ending of development for two titles.
The two games getting the axe are Eight Days and The Getaway. In the official statement it said, "It has been agreed that production of both Eight Days and The Getaway will cease immediately due to the redistribution of resources and budget.
"This decision was made following an internal review of all games and it was deemed that with the incredibly strong list of exclusive first party titles coming up both this year and in the near future, resource should be reallocated to enhance those projects closer to completion.
"Worldwide Studios has a reputation for innovative and entertaining games, with titles such as LittleBigPlanet, SingStar,Buzz, EyeToy and Eye of Judgement, and will continue to push the boundaries on all PlayStation platforms."
Eight Days had been first announced in 2006 during E3 with a trailer showing a mixture of in-game action and cinematic footage, involving a shoot-out at a remote truck-stop in the Arizona desert. The game had been recently reported to be ramped up to full production just a few weeks ago. The Getaway was still in the early stages when the word came down.
Those of you thinking they may try again later, sorry- they have both been shelved permanently.
