PS3 - Sony Denies Selling Chip Plant
A few days ago we reported on a story that Sony was possibly selling off its chip manufacturing facilities to Toshiba. Sony has since denied they are doing this.
The original story printed in Japanese newspaper Nikkei turns out to have been no more than hearsay. Sony spokesperson Tomio Takizawa said that "nothing has been concretely decided."
Going by that statement it sounds like while it may not be happening as of yet there are maybe deals of some sort happening between the two companies. Takaziwa did say Sony is looking at new ways to streamline the chip manufacturing process.
A similar story was had on the Toshiba side as spokesperson Keisuke Omori commented that they "are considering various plans, but [they] cannot comment on individual cases." As was the case with Sony he refused to elaborate on the deal that was supposedly taking place days ago.
