PS3 - Square-Enix equals in next-gen support
Suqare-Enix have recently stated that they are looking into offereing equal amounts of games to each of the next-gen consoles.
Acording to an article in The Wall Street Journal, Square-Enix senior vice president Michihiro Sasaki was reported saying, ¨We don´t want the PlayStation 3 to be the overwhelming loser, so we want to support them. But we don´t want them to be the overwhelming winner either, so we can´t support them too much.¨
Square-Enix have already committed the following games to the following systems:
PS3
Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy Versus XIII
Wii
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers
Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen
Tower of Mirrors
XBOX360
Final Fantasy XI
Project Sylpheed
Square-Enix´s other popular series, Kingdom Hearts, is, as yet, unconfirmed on which systems the series will be ported to.
As popular as the Kingdom Hearts series is, this could lead to a boost in sales for that console, especially if it is only ported to the PS3. This would be a major boost to Sony´s system as they are the only console to have the true continuation of the Final Fantasy series.
We´ll have to wait and see about the Kingdom Hearts franchise, but it looks a lot like Square-Enix will continue to go from strength to strength.
