PS3 - Super StarDust HD Updated, New Game Mode Pack Available
Owners of Super StarDust HD, available on the PlayStation Store, may be surprised to find an update waiting for them when they fire up the game.The update file is 153 MB in size and paves the way for a new add-on made available via the in-game store.
This new solo pack includes four new game modes: Endless (survive as long as possible against waves of random enemies), Survival (last as long as you can while being bombarded with indestructible space probes), Time Attack (speed run through a planet) and Bomber (armed with bombs only, score as many points as possible).
Along with the new game modes are two more choices for music while playing: a remix of the Planet Lave theme as well as a "retro" soundtrack based on the original Super Stardust game created some years ago. Finally, you can also configure the controls however you see fit in Controller Options.
One other addition I have found is a choice of difficulty levels when starting a game- you can choose from Easy (with its own leaderboard and doesn't increase in difficulty as you play through again) and Normal (same as easy but will increase difficulty as you repeat planets). One downside with the update is all statistics are reset- this does not affect any high scores you may have currently (thankfully).
The new pack is $5.99 Canadian/ $4.99 US.
