Tony Hawk: RIDE is a game set for release on the PS3, Xbox 360, and the Wii. It comes with a curious skateboard controller that allows motion-sensing controller and “unprecedented freedom and movement”, as stated in the press release issued by Activision. Here is a photo of the board:

Tony Hawk also expressed his enthusiasm for this new game saying, “This is the game I've always wanted to make. Playing on the board is unlike any other game, and I'm excited for everyone to have the chance to feel what it's really like to experience the true feeling of skateboarding."

But this is more than just a skateboarding controller as the game comes with a combo of accelerometers and motion sensors that allow players to control the physical action using various movements and gestures while on the board. Hence, performing tricks is now possible.

Josh Tsui, President of game dev studio Robomodo, also said:

“I think it was always that if you're trying to design a game for a controller, you don't want to compromise by trying to design something for every type of controller, so the game is finely tuned specifically for the board itself.”

Then, he added that the peripheral could also be used for other sports games such as surfing, snowboarding, among others.
