PS3 - UbiSoft Adopting amBX In Upcoming Games
A partnership has just been made between Philips and Ubisoft to add support for amBX in Ubisoft Montreal's Far Cry 2 and Gearbox Software's Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway (Sony PS3, Xbox 360, PC). This probably explains why Ubisoft has previously delayed the release of both games.
Aside from these two games, other games from Ubisoft are also looking to benefit from the recent deal. It was also said that patches that are aimed to support amBX technology will be out soon. Ubisoft did not mention mention the games that will gain support.
Short for “ambient experiences”, amBX devices are not limited to visual and audio cues. It can indeed help maximize your gaming experience with wind effects being felt with the use of speedfans, full rumble and recoil that's available for vehicle and weapon feedback. What's even better is that the experience goes on through the entire course of the game and not just during gameplay.
To give fans a nice treat by letting them experience it themselves, Philips had set up a booth at the Consumer Electronics Show to demonstrate the enhancements amBX could deliver for Hell's Highway and Far Cry. It will be available until January 10, so make sure you stop by and check it out for yourself.
