It has just been learned the latest firmware upgrade for the PlayStation Portable, version 3.0, is now availabble for download via the System Update. This update has been eagerly awaited for some as this one enables some features to work with the PlayStation 3. The changes made with this update are as follows:
PlayStation Network games are now supported under GAME
Remote Play has been added under Network
An online instruction manual has been added under Network
Timedrecording has been added as a feature to RSS Channel
A visual player has been added to Music
3 speeds of fast foward and rewind have been added to Music
Camera has been added as a feature under Photo
UMD Auto Start has been added as a feature in System Settings
The first 2 features are of particular note for PS3 owners as they will now be able to connect their PSP and PS3 together wirelessly (if you have the 60 GB system) to, among other things, display the PLayStation 3 screen on the PSP, play media on the PS3 or use the PSP as a control for web surfing on the PS3. This also enables the PSP being able to play downloadable PlayStation games which will soon be available for purchase in the PlayStation Store.
One other interesting addition is the Camera feature considering it has yet to be released. One could easily deduce this peripheral will be coming to us soon.
