PSP - MGS: Peace Walker To Have Interactive Cutscenes, Screaming Weapons, Singing (Singing?)
In the latest issue of Famitsu, fans who are eager to learn more about Hideo Kojima's latest project, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, are finally getting their fill as the mag reveals some relevant information about this upcoming PSP game. Two major features are specifically discussed in this issue: Vocaloid software integration and interactive cutscenes.
Vocaloid is basically a voice-synth tech courtesy of Yamaha, which will be utilized in-game for weapons that have AI installed in them. This will therefore enable supported weapons sing and scream whenever they attack you, which gives more thrill into the gameplay experience.
As for the cutscenes, Kojima Productions that this time out, it will deliver more interactivity to the game. With the help of Yoji Shinkawa, the game's art director, and his creative input, gamers will now be able to control the game's 2D cutscenes to a certain extent.
Shinkawa details, “[i]f you zoom in on the scene where you first meet Paz, you can see the uniform she has on under her coat, and then what's under that. It's an idea I came up with while thinking about what makes games different from movies or animation. I think it's pretty interactive."
Kojima is also psyched with the upcoming release of this much-awaited title on the PSP, as he reveals: "I'm putting everything I want to do on a portable console into this game...I haven't announced this yet, but there's another feature in here that will surprise people, to the point where they'll want to go out and buy a PSP right now!
