PSP - Monster Hunter Freedom 2 Scores Big In Japan
Capcom has just confirmed that its PSP exclusive game Monster Hunter Freedom 2 sold more than one and a half million units in Japan alone, making it the first game to achieve that for the handheld console.
This brings the total sales for the Monster Hunter franchise up to 4.8 million! The first Monster Hunter game was released in the PlayStation 2 platform back in 2004.
Apart from this great achievement, Capcom also adds that it “is pleased to announce that Monster Hunter Freedom 2 was chosen to receive the Excellence Prize today in the Entertainment Division of the Japan Media Arts Festival, sponsored by the Japan Media Arts Festival Executive Committee of Agency for Cultural Affairs.”
The greater thing about it was that the title managed to get the award by beating out 2,091 other pieces, earning its merit as a piece of media art.
Also, Capcom has revealed that a sequel to the game, Monster Hunter Freedom 2G, will also be released in Japan on March 13, 2008. There is still no word from Capcom, however, as to whether or not it will be released internationally.
