PSP - New Firmware Available

Sony has released another firmware update for the PlayStation Portable, bringing things up to v 3.30.

The main changes in this upate include:

*expanded support for PSOne titles downloaded from the PlayStation Store

*support for thumbnail display for items added under RSS Channels

*the size of videos that can be played under Video has been increased

*support for thumbnails display for content under Video saved to the memory stick

The video size bit, for those wondering, refers to the screen size allowed. Before, videos were restricted to a certain width and height and would be stretched to fill the screen when needed. Now videos can be saved as the full screen size with no stretching required.

To update your PSP just turn on your wireless connection and head to System Update in the Settings menu. For those that prefer to get the update via the internet and transfer it to the memory stick via the PC the update will soon be available via http://us.playstation.com for North America and www.yourpsp.com for European members. For those going through the firmware update for the first time I invite you to check out the forum´s PSP hardware and Accessories section, where we have a how-to for firmware updates available as well as links to the sites mentioned to obtain the update.
